Health Risk Assessments
Find out how healthy you are by taking our FREE online health risk assessment:
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a condition in which males cannot obtain or maintain an erection that is suitable for sex. One cause of ED is a testosterone deficiency, also called low testosterone or low T. Testosterone is the male sex hormone, and if you have a deficiency, you may experience ED.
However, there are several other causes of ED, such as damaged blood vessels, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, depression and/or anxiety, among others. Our urologists in Reston take time to determine the exact cause of erectile dysfunction and provide you with effective treatments to restore your confidence and quality of life.

Our specialists are experienced in treating prostate cancer, as well as genitourinary cancers. Cancers of the genitourinary system include
Some symptoms of these cancers may resemble other health conditions, which can make genitourinary cancers difficult to detect in early stages.
If cancer is detected, you can be confident that you can receive comprehensive cancer care at Reston Hospital. From discovery to treatment and into survivorship, our team is with you every step of the way.
Blue light cystoscopy for treatment of bladder cancers
Reston Hospital Center introduced blue light cystoscopy in 2019 for the advanced detection of bladder cancer. Cystoscopy, a procedure that uses a scope to look through the urethra and into the bladder, has long been the gold standard for detecting suspicious lesions in the bladder. The scope uses a white light to illuminate growths or suspicious areas.
In addition, a combination of hexaminolevulinate HCl, a drug that is taken up by cancer cells, and a blue light help doctors identify cancerous cells, which glow bright pink against the blue of healthy tissue.
Blue light cystoscopy allows surgeons to more easily identify and remove tumors. The improved detection can lead to a more complete resection, less residual tumors and better management decisions.
Prostate cancer screenings
The best defense against prostate cancer is education and regular screenings. At Reston Hospital, we provide prostate cancer screenings via a digital rectal exam (DRE) or a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test.
Urogynecology is a branch of medicine that combines urology and gynecologic care. Our urogynecologists in Reston focus on treating conditions of the female pelvic organs and the tissues and muscles that support them, such as pelvic organ prolapse or an overactive bladder.
Advanced urologic procedures
Reston Hospital's experienced urologists and urogynecologists use the most effective, least invasive treatment options available, including minimally invasive robotic surgery.
Robot-assisted surgery uses tiny surgical instruments and small incisions, resulting in minimal scarring and making it an ideal treatment for delicate urologic surgeries, such as prostatectomies or uterine fibroid removals. The robotic treatment can help spare surrounding nerves and minimize the physical and emotional impacts of surgery, shorten your hospital stay and speed up your recovery.
Many urologic and urogynecologic conditions can be treated with robotic surgery at Reston Hospital. Additionally, we offer single-site robotic surgery (one incision through the belly button) for the removal of the gallbladder, or a cholecystectomy.
For the treatment of kidney stones, we offer the minimally invasive shock wave lithotripsy procedure, which uses high-energy sound waves to break stones into tiny pieces that exit your body through urine.
