When facing recovery from a physical accident or injury or a neurologic condition, trust a top therapy expert at Reston Hospital Center to develop a comprehensive treatment plan for you during your rehabilitation. Unlike physical therapy, occupational therapy treatment and rehabilitation plans are developed and based around activities performed and required in daily life
Occupational therapy treatments and services
Occupational therapy is designed to help people develop or recover skills for daily living and return to ordinary activities at home and at work. We offer one-on-one adult and pediatric occupational therapy in our hospital’s Reston Therapy ® Fitness Center from some of the top licensed occupational therapists in Northern Virginia. Our therapists will evaluate your unique needs and create a customized program to help develop your independent living skills such as bathing, dressing, eating and home management tasks in the effort to help you reach your highest motor and neurological capabilities.
One of the most common reasons patients come in to visit us is to receive hand therapy. Reston’s certified hand therapist manages conditions such as fractures, tendonitis, amputations, nerve-related issues, impingements, sprains and strains, wounds, scars and general pain in the hand.
Our experts also provide care for:
- Lymphedema therapy
- Orthopedic rehabilitation
- Stroke and neurological rehabilitation
- Upper extremity strengthening
- Hand, arm and shoulder therapy
- Gross and fine motor control
- Energy conservation
As part of our continuum of personalized care, our therapists can recommend adaptive equipment and assistive technology. We train patients, family members and caregivers in the use of adaptive equipment to help you regain physical and motor independence at home and during your daily activity outside of our therapy facility
