Reston, VA – Reston Hospital Center has achieved Comprehensive Center Re-Accreditation from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®).
Centers seeking MBSAQIP® Accreditation undergo an extensive site visit by an experienced bariatric surgeon, who reviews the center's structure, process, and clinical outcomes data. According to national quality standards, Reston Hospital Center exceeds all criteria as a Comprehensive Center and is well established to deliver safe, high quality bariatric patient care in the mid-Atlantic region.
“Patients seeking surgery for obesity and its related conditions have an exceptional choice for receiving care at a nationally accredited program” said Dr. Matthew Fitzer, bariatric surgery director at Reston Hospital Center. “Since 2015, our bariatric surgical center has been an MBSAQIP® accredited program and we are proud to continue to provide our patients with top-notch care.”
The MBSAQIP® is a joint program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). As an accredited bariatric surgical center, Reston Hospital Center ensures that bariatric surgical patients receive a multidisciplinary approach to their care, not just a surgical procedure, which improves patient outcomes and long-term success. The accredited center offers preoperative and postoperative care designed specifically for their severely obese patients.
“Our top priority is the quality care that we provide our patients,” said John Deardorff, President and CEO of Reston Hospital Center and HCA’s Northern Virginia Market. “Comprehensive Center Accreditation is just one more way our surgeons, staff, and overall program are at the forefront of bariatric surgery in the region.”
