Gender Knee
Minimally Invasive Surgery l Gender Knee l Computer Assisted Knee Replacement
It's a simple fact that men and women's bodies are not the same. You wouldn't ride the same bicycle, wear men's clothing, or even use the same deodorant, but for years women who undergo total knee replacement have been receiving the same replacement joints as men. Today, women can receive a joint specifically made for the female body. The new artificial knee, appropriately called Gender Knee, matches a woman's size and shape with three distinct differences. The Gender Knee has a thinner profile than traditional joint replacements, allowing your new knee to feel more natural; it also allows for more natural movement, by taking into account the angle between a woman's hip and knee-which is different than the angle between a man's hip and knee; finally the Gender Knee has a more contoured shape which more closely replicates the narrow anatomy of a woman's knee.
Gender Knee may not be the best option for everyone, talk to your orthopedic surgeon about if Gender Knee is right for you.
