Newborn Nursery

Newborn Nursery

A 30-bassinet Newborn Nursery in The Family Center provides care to your baby immediately after delivery and later, when he or she is not in the room with you. Specialty trained nurses attend all low-risk deliveries and are certified in neonatal resuscitation.

Parents are encouraged to participate in their infant's care to the extent they desire. Newborn care generally takes place in the mother's room. The infant is returned to the nursery only at the parent's request or if the infant's condition warrants continuous observation or care. The staff supports breastfeeding and encourages mothers to feed their infants on demand. Infant security procedures are reviewed with the parents upon admission to the hospital.
