Electroencephalogram (EEG)

An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a test that uses sensors to evaluate electrical brain activity, also referred to as brain waves.

How You Benefit

An EEG can help the doctor diagnose a variety of neurological disorders from a common headache and dizziness to stroke, head trauma, seizures, dementia and degenerative brain disease. EEG is also used to determine organic causes of psychiatric symptoms and disabilities in children.

What to Expect

An EEG is painless and usually takes about 90 minutes.
