Postpartum
After recovery, you will be transferred to one of 30 private postpartum rooms, and your baby will be transferred to the Newborn Nursery. The registered nurse who cares for you will also care for your baby. The postpartum unit offers assisted "rooming-in," where your baby can stay with you as long as you like. If you decide to breastfeed, lactation experts are on staff to provide support.
At The Family Center you, your husband or significant other, and your newborn can learn about one another in the privacy of your own room. There, a registered nurse continues to provide "couplet" care. The ultimate benefit is continuity-one highly trained caregiver knows how mom and baby are doing and provides consistent communication with the obstetrician and pediatrician.
Operating Room
In the event of a scheduled or emergency Cesarean Section The Family Center is fully equipped with two operating suites. The nurse who cares for you during labor will continue to care for you in the operating and recovery rooms. Generally, your spouse or significant other is allowed to accompany you in the operating room and recovery room.
