Reston, Virginia, April 27, 2010 - Tim McManus, F.A.C.H.E. currently Chief Executive Officer of Garden Park Medical Center in Gulfport, Mississippi, was today named CEO of Reston Hospital Center effective June 1, 2010. McManus will replace Bill Adams, who is retiring as CEO after spending 13 years of his 36-year career at Reston Hospital.
"While there's only one Bill Adams, we're fortunate to have an outstanding leader and hospital executive ready to step into his shoes," said Thomas Fleeter, M.D., Chairman of the Reston's Board of Trustees, and Donald Hope, M.D., President of the Medical Staff, in a joint statement. "Under Tim's leadership, Garden Park Medical Center's clinical quality and patient satisfaction performance has been impressive, and we're confident he'll continue to uphold Reston Hospital Center's tradition of excellence in health care delivery."
For McManus, a graduate of Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, Maryland, the move represents a homecoming of sorts. "Reston Hospital has been in great hands with Bill Adams," he said. "This move gives me an opportunity to join a wonderful group of employees and a superb medical staff and to return to the place where I grew up."
McManus has been CEO of Garden Park, a 130-bed HCA facility, since September 2007. Prior to that, he served as Chief Operating Officer at 560-bed Trinity Medical Center, a Triad hospital located in Birmingham, Alabama.
Tim received a master's of health services degree in health finance and management from the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health in Baltimore and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Tulane University in New Orleans.
Tim and his wife Holly have three children - Max (6), Georgia (4), and Ava (2). The family will be relocating to Northern Virginia in the coming months.
