Reston, Virginia, Virginia, September 25, 2012 – John A. Deardorff, FACHE, has been named president and chief executive officer of 187-bed Reston Hospital Center effective January 1, 2013. He will also serve as lead executive for HCA Virginia’s Northern Virginia Market, which includes Dominion Hospital, a 100-bed behavioral health hospital, as well as Reston Surgery Center and Fairfax Surgery Center.
“John has built an outstanding track record as a CEO of several HCA hospitals,” said Margaret Lewis, President of HCA’s Capital Division and Senior Executive of HCA Virginia, and Joe Ritchey, Chairman of Reston Hospital’s Board of Directors. “In those roles, he created internal cultures marked by collaboration, patient-care excellence, and a commitment to the community. He will provide superb leadership to our hospital and market.”

Deardorff replaces Tim McManus, who was promoted to CEO of HCA’s Chippenham and Johnston-Willis hospitals, a 758-bed, two-campus facility in Richmond, VA.
Deardorff was previously CEO at 257-bed Fort Walton Beach (FL) Medical Center. He has also served as CEO of Lake City (FL) Medical Center; West Marion Community Hospital (Ocala, FL); and Polk Medical Center (Cedartown, GA). All are HCA facilities. He received an MHA degree from George Washington University and a bachelor of science degree from Towson University in Maryland with a double major in business administration and health services management.
He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executive. He and his wife Karen have two daughters – Kacie and Katelyn.
